Chicago but the surrounding area as well, offering a wealth of traveler services
and attractions. Located in the Northeastern corner of the state, Chicagoland
is also home to such notable cities as Joliet, Des Plaines, Schaumburg, Skokie
and many other small towns that help to give the area its distinct flavor. The
city of Joliet features a number of historic attractions including a defunct
Iron Works site and a Historical Museum chronicling the area's past. Joliet
is also the place to book boat cruises on the Illinois River. The town of Skokie
boasts a Sculpture Park with two miles of park land that is adorned with 60
contemporary art installations. Nearby Schaumburg regales visitors with the
Medieval Times Dinner and Touranment, a recreation featuring knights and damsels
in addition to an old fashioned feast. The town of Des Plaines is home to a
replica of the first McDonald's restaurant, complete with 1950s style kitchen
and antique cars parked outside. And, of course, Chicago offers a range of attractions
that include the Sears Tower, the Brookfield Zoo and the Museum of Science and
Industry.
